The Coldstream Flyers Club is an active aviation community of both professional pilots and private pilots based at Coldstream Airfield in the Yarra Valley east of Melbourne
History
The club was formed in 1965 from humble beginnings. A few local enthusiasts saw the need to build a club that could allow for the sharing of a hobby and the pooling of resources to make the joy of flying accessible to ordinary people.
It was started by Jimmy Doake and friends to share their love of flying in the paddock that would become Coldstream Airfield. The airfield is still owned by the Doake family today.
It was the foresight of the early members that stands the Coldstream Flyers today on such solid foundations with modern club rooms, hangarage and aircraft.

The Yarra Valley
Perfectly located for a pleasant days outing. Fly in the morning and share a coffee or cake. Visit the picturesque Yarra Valley in the afternoon including the Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery at Yarra Glen as well as many wineries, cafes, hotels and restaurants nearby.
By air the nation is easily accessible!
The district is renowned for the dry sunny winter days and perfect summer mornings and evenings and the prevailing wind is nearly always straight down the strip. All great combinations for the enjoyment of year round flying.
Our people bring together a passion and vision for the shared enjoyment of flying. The expertise of the flight training personnel at Yarra Valley Flight Training and the dedication talents and skills of members, bring together decades of experience and knowledge of aviation for both old and new.
Facilities
Coldstream has an excellent sealed, all weather strip that allows for training and member use all year round. The club rooms are modern and comfortable and provide that home away from home feel. Members can relax sharing the tea, coffee or kitchen facilities with friends and guests.
Training
The CFC has evolved strong links with the local flight training schools run by various operators including the Royal Victorian Aero Club and now Yarra Valley Flight Training.
This provides the first step for many new members as they embark on the path of learning to fly the range of aircraft on the field. The flying school is owned and managed by Bob Boyd, Chief Flying Instructor. Flight training is provided to the highest of industry standards.
